Lucian Daniel Hines, Sr., age 95, West Factory Street,
departed this life on Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at the James B. Haggin
Memorial Hospital Extended Care Facility after a long illness.
Born May 10, 1908 in Mercer
County, he was
the beloved son of the late George Washington and Bessie Bottoms Hines.
He was a retired employee of the City of Harrodsburg Street Department
and a faithful member of the Centennial
Baptist Church.
He was an avid fisherman and loved to work in the garden.
Leaving behind to cherish his memories include: one son, Lucian Daniel
Hines, Jr., Middletown Ohio; one daughter, Irene Hines, Columbus, Ohio;
two nephews, E.P. Reid, Harrodsburg and Thomas L. Hines, Sr., Dayton,
Ohio; one niece Bessie VanDyke Henderson,
Harrodsburg; his care givers, James and Rose Bryan, Harrodsburg; his
favorite Tag-a-Long Companion, James T. Boyd, Cincinnati; eight grandchildren,
five great-grandchildren, several great nieces and nephews, cousins,
and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted 1:00 pm Monday, May 10, 2004 at the
Centennial Baptist
Church by Elder J.D. Short,
III, Pastor of the Centennial
Baptist Church
and Rev. Ralph B. Smith, Pastor of the St. Andrew AME Church. Burial
was in the Maple Grove Cemetery
(Section K, Lot 23, Grave
# 1).
Active Pallbearers were: James Bryant, Jr., Andrew Harris, Albert Mitchell,
James T. Boyd, George Hudson, and Scott Jones. Honorary bearers were:
William “Bo” Yeast, Benny Yeast, Mike and Phillip VanDyke,
and Lucian Hines, III.
Visitation was Monday, May 10, 2004 from 11:00 am until the hour of
service at the Centennial
Baptist Church.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Parks Funeral Home of Harrodsburg,
KY.
