STANLEY BELL VANDYKE

1917 ~ 2004

        

           Stanley B. VanDyke, age 86, Harrodsburg Health Care Manor, departed this life on Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at the health care center after a long illness.  He was a former resident of Cardinal Meadows in Harrodsburg.

          Born January, 30, 1917 in McAfee, KY (Mercer County), he was the son of the late Dan Thomas and Lena May Lay VanDyke. He was a retired horse trainer for the former C.E. Falls Stables (also known as Rose-A-Lee Farms), Cornishville Street, Harrodsburg, a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, a member of the VFW, and a member of the First Baptist Church, Broadway, Harrodsburg.

          Leaving behind to cherish his memories include a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and many Harrodsburg Health Care Manor companions and staff members. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ransome VanDyke, a sister, Cora Childs, and an Aunt, Stella V. Brown.

          Funeral services were held 11:00 am Friday, January 30, 2004 at the Parks Funeral Home by Rev. Daniel Childs, Pastor of the 2nd Baptist Church, Mayslick, KY. (Nephew of Mr. Vandyke) Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery (Section G, 2nd Row, Grave 18).

          Visitation was from 10:00 am Friday until the hour of service at the funeral home. Arrangements were entrusted to the caring staff of Parks Funeral Home, 203 East Broadway, Harrodsburg, KY.
