Voyager Inventory Program Procedures

Inventory Project Background Explanation


1. Install VoyagerInvAdminModule.mdb program file on a computer with Voyager client installed running a current version of the Reports.mdb.
 
2. Upgrade the VoyagerInvAdminModule.mdb
a. In the folder where you placed the downloaded VoyagerInvAdminModule.mdb place a copy of your currently working version of the Reports.mdb file.
b. Open the Reports.mdb.
c.  From the File menu under Get External Data select Import, this will being up the Import Dialog window.
d. From the Import dialog window click on the VoyagerInvAdminModule.mdb file to highlight, then click the Import button.  This will open the Import Objects dialog window.
e. From the Import Objects dialog window do the following:
1. Click the Queries tab, then click Select All on the right side.
2. Click the Forms tab, then click on Inventory Admin to select.
3. Click the Reports tab, then click Select All on the right side.
4. Click the Macros tab, then click Select All on the right side.
5.    Click the OK button
f.  From the Tools menu select Startup...
g. In the Startup dialog window do the following:
1. In the Applications Title box type Voyager Inventory Admin Module
2. In the Display Form/Page drop-down list select Inventory Admin
3. In the Application Icon box type books04.bmp
4. All other options can be left as they are
5.    Click the OK button
h. From the File menu select Exit
i.  Right-click on the Reports.mdb file and select Rename.  Rename the file InventoryAdmin.mdb.
j. Open the new InventoryAdmin.mdb file and test to see if its working by running one of the reports.
   
3. Setup Inventory Present & Inventory Missing statistical Categories in Voyager Sysadmin Module [See WI-01]
   
4. Run Access Reports from Voyager Inventory Admin Module [See Image 1]
  a. Item Records with Duplicate Barcodes
  b. Get Barcodes to Apply Inventory Missing
1. Run this report for all locations to be inventoried to create the text file of barcodes for the locations
2. This report can be modified to prompt for call number ranges (Email me for instructions)
c. Other reports to help locate items to include in inventory
1. Item Status – overdue, Circ. & Cat. Review, Damaged, At Bindery
   
5. Process saved barcode text files through Pick & Scan to set statistical category to Inventory Missing [See WI-02]
   
6. Perform inventory scanning
    a. Off-Line method [See WI-03]
  b. Direct method [See WI-04] (Skip step 7)
   
7. Process scanned barcode text files through Pick & Scan to set Statistical Category to Inventory Present [See WI-05]
   
8.  Run Access report from Voyager Inventory Admin Module [See Image 2]
  a. Make Table (You must run these before running Inventory (Missing Items) report
1. Create Table of Items with Inventory Missing Applied
2. Create Table of Items with Inventory Present Applied
  b. Inventory (Missing Items)
  c.  Other reports to help locate items found on missing items list

  a.  Processing found items
