Fire info

2006 season. Last updated Tuesday, August 4, 2006. Note: if too many days have gone by since Aug. 4, blame the fire season for the lack of update.

Start, June 2. First peak, June 30. Current peak, last reading. Right side of charts, dummy data).

X axis is in 3/4 day increments. One unit equals 3 or 4 days. The data comes from the national situation report, but I do not voucher for its accuracy. Just assume transcription errors, ok?

I chart it using the actual data for past dates. Then I enter two entries of "zero" for the next two datapoints, then the last date's number as dummy data for all but the final dummy datapoint. The last reading, also a made up number I spike to the max estimated level so the graph looks the same throughout the fire season. More details below

teams active

REMEMBER: Two units on the X axis cover a week of time. The number of teams is counted as any Type I or II team active.

crews active

REMEMBER: Two units on the X axis cover a week of time. Reformatted version. I count the total number of federal and non-federal crews active based on the bottom of the sit. report.
