Minutes of the April 3, 2004 meeting of the Ridgecrest Homeowner’s Association which was held in the driveway of Lee & Denise McClure, 2520 Ridgecrest Road.

 

1.                  Call to order

Lee McClure asked for a motion to call the meeting to order, Rhonda Byrd motioned and Bob Mire seconded. The meeting was called to order at 3:20PM.

 

Lee announced that the tent was loaned to him from Twin Tire. It really provided more shade for everyone.

 

2.                  Roll call of officers present

Lee McClure, President, Rhonda Byrd, Secretary, and Bob Mire, Treasurer were present. Don Robertson, Vice-President was absent. There were 13 families represented who signed in.

 

3.                  Reading of the minutes from last meeting

Lee asked for a motion to waive the reading of the minutes, Tommy Gaubert motioned and Aaron Wilkie seconded. The minutes were accepted.

 

4.                  Officers’ reports

Bob Mire gave the Treasurer’s report and our balance is $2,111.91. He filed the 2003 taxes for the association, which saved us $125.00. Bubby Trahant asked if there would be enough money to continue to pay for the lawn maintenance of the entrance for another year if we do not collect any more dues. Bob reported that there should be enough to also take care of the upcoming projects such as repairing the irrigation faucet, cleaning of the entrance fence, painting the lettering on the fence, and putting in additional flowers. Lee asked for a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report. Keith Gonzales motioned and Ron Byrd seconded.

 

5.                  Committee reports

The Beautification Committee - did a great job with the entrance gardens and their efforts are appreciated.

 

The Safety Committee – Lee McClure reported that Marie Ricks contacted the parish representatives concerning the installation of sidewalks along Ehret Road and Don Robertson will contact Councilman Chris Roberts about getting the trees cut down. Lee advised everyone about the recent crime events that occurred such as an auto theft, and a suspicious driver who approached a young resident. Lisa Wilkie recommended we inform everyone with a flyer. It was unanimously agreed to put out a flyer on bright colored paper. Rhonda Byrd volunteered to distribute flyers.

 

The Hospitality Committee – Lee recommended it’s time to update our directory.

 

Parish Matters Committee – Rhonda contacted Sgt. Quentin Boudreaux with JPSO Neighborhood Watch about attending an upcoming meeting to discuss area crime statistics.

 

6.                  Special orders (important business previously designated for consideration at this meeting.)

 

7.                  Old Business

Alternative School – Tommy Gaubert reported that the white storage container that was to be relocated has not been moved and now has items stacked on top of it. Rhonda suggested we contact School Board Representative, Ray St. Pierre for a status report. Debra Gordon suggested we contact Principal Preston Gassery instead. Tommy Gaubert will contact the principal to get the container moved.

 

8.                  New Business

Tommy Gaubert recommended a flyer should be distributed announcing when the Beautification Committee will be getting together and also collecting dues. Helen Mire suggested we compose a newsletter instead of flyers to convey messages and information to the residents. Denise McClure nominated Helen to chair the Newsletter Committee and Lisa Wilkie seconded. Helen accepted. Bob Mire recommended we get some type of sign at the entrance to post announcements. Keith Gonzales suggested signs in the entrance gardens “this garden provided by homeowners’ association dues.” Aaron Wilkie volunteered to check into the signs and Beautification Committee will help.

 

Debra Gordon recommended we join the Jeremiah Group, 2028 Paxton who represents the entire metropolitan area in getting action taken. She will have Jackie Johnson attend our next meeting to explain their function.

 

NOMINATION OF OFFICERS:

 

Ron Byrd nominated Bubby Trahant for President, Tommy Gaubert seconded the motion. Bubby accepted the nomination for President.

 

Rhonda Byrd nominated Tommy Gaubert for Vice-President, Helen Mire seconded the motion. Tommy accepted the nomination for Vice-President.

 

Lee McClure nominated Bob Mire for Treasurer, Aaron Wilkie seconded the motion. Bob accepted the nomination for Treasurer.

 

Bubby Trahant nominated Rhonda Byrd for Secretary, Bob Mire seconded the motion. Rhonda accepted the nomination for Secretary.

 

It was a unanimous ballot and a unanimous acceptance. Keith Gonzales suggested a progressive order for the officers so everyone would get an opportunity to serve in all capacities. Keith asked what are the various committees: Beautification, Safety, Hospitality, Parish Matters, Newsletter, and Neighborhood Watch. Ron Byrd nominated Keith Gonzales as Captain of our Neighborhood Watch Program Bob Mire seconded the motion and Keith accepted. Denise McClure volunteered to continue to deliver notices to the residents. Lee thanked everyone for their participation and attendance. Keith asked about a crawfish boil. Lee suggested that some people could each bring a sack because the association would not have sufficient funds to cover all the expenses.

 

9.                  Announcements

Lee reminded everyone to change their clocks for daylight savings time.

 

10.              Adjournments

Kelly Landry motioned to adjourn, Billy Sigur seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 4:15PM.
