There are many books which have been written about the Reeves family.

A. few of them, such as “Reliques of the Rives, Ryves” are extensive in scope, and well documented. A few others are extensive in scope, but not well documented. Some Reeves books are simply compilations of various family trees which have been submitted to or found by the author, who has connected them into an overall work. Most  Reeves books are about people descending from a particular individual with the Reeves surname. Practically al of these books are of potential value to someone doing Reeves research, and can provide an excellent starting place for such research. However, it is my opinion that all such books should be used ONLY as a starting place for one’s own independent research, and that all findings from a book be viewed as unproven until confirmed from valid source material such as censuses, vital records, deeds, wills, etc.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Reprints of many genealogical works which are out of copyright are being offered for sale by various firms at attractive prices. They can do this because the firms may have obtained the content free from sites such as Google Books and Archive.org. Check these sites out first before ordering  books unless you prefer a print copy.

- RELIQUES OF THE RIVES (RYVES): BEING HISTORICAL AND GENEALOGICAL NOTES OF THE ANCIENT FAMILY OF RYVES OF COUNTY DORSET AND OF THE RIVES OF VIRGINIA by James Rives Childs. 1929 (amazon.com)- Hardcover versions of this  fine book can be quite expensive. Paperback reprints can frequently be found at ebay.com and used book sites at much lower cost.

 

REEVES REVIEW MEMORIAL VOLUME II - by Emma Barrett Reeves. This book is no longer in print, but can sometimes be found on the used book market. It can also be read online by clicking on the above title. A great many Reeves family lines in both the U.K. And U.S.A. can be found in this book, but I recommend that any information found be verified by the user, as I have found significant errors in my  personal lineage.

The principal subject of the books is usually not exclusively Reeves-related, but highlighted excerpts are given which usually mention the name of the Reeves personage mentioned.
