Biographical: James was born in Jasper County, Ga. He moved with his father William to Fayette County, Ga. While young. He farmed and started his family near Fayetteville, Ga. He then moved to Houston County, near Roberta, Ga. His land eventually became part of Crawford County, Ga. The old homeplace has been torn down, but the family cemetery still exists nearby in fair condition. He and other members of his family are buried there, and all graves have markers. James served in the CSA during the civil war with the Georgia State Guards, 8th Bn Cavalry, Co. B.
