Biographical: Known as "Doc," he was a kind and gentle man who was friends with everyone. He was the town champion checker player for many years, and always the best fisherman in the county. After he retired from the REA, he spent his time fishing and gardening. He died in an automobile accident in 1962 near Eastman, Ga. A short story about his ability to "smell" bream beds is included in the book entitled: "In One Place - The Natural History of a Georgia Farmer," by Milton Hopkins.
