REEVES REGISTRY - This appears above in "Reeves Genealogy Home Pages" under the name "Barry Reeves." It is much more than a home page. It gives the history of the REEVES surname, lists books and publications dealing with the REEVES family, has REEVES photographs, chat forum, etc. It is indisputably the most complete REEVES resource site available on the web, and is frequently updated and improved by the webmaster Barry Reeves. It is a good starting place for the REEVES researcher.

ROOTSWEB.COM - I probably use this resource more than any other. The most valuable information is in the "World Connect-Family Trees" section. You can enter the first and last names of the ancestor you're interested in, and you will be given a list of all family trees containing that name that have been submitted to rootsweb.com. If someone has researched or connected to your ancestor, you will find this site of great value as a starting place for your own research. It is not limited to the REEVES surname - you can research any of your family lines here. It is owned by Ancestry.com, which is a resource you must pay for, but direct access to Rootsweb.com is free.

ANCESTRY.COM - This is a "for-fee' site, but it is probably the most valuable resource for internet research that exists, regardless of surname. It has all the U.S. Censuses online, as well as some from other countries. It also contains family trees, old newspaper files, draft records, and numerous other databases of value. One can subscribe for a year, a month, or a one-time use. Occasionally, a promotional subscription is available with the purchase of Family Tree Maker software, which is a "no-brainer" for value. Also, on rare occasions, Ancestry offers a reduced price for subscriptions. If you register on the Ancestry.com site for e-mailings, you may be notified of any such offers. It is worth the subscription fee for serious researching, and for anyone who wants to jumpstart their personal research for a year or so. Free access to Ancestry.com is also available at some libraries if you have a library card at that facility .

CYNDI'S LIST - This is the mother of all free internet resource link sites. Cyndi was one of the earliest adopters of the internet for genealogy, and over many years has steadily built up a site that lists almost every conceivable site available for internet genealogy research. You will find a lot of information listing links for REEVES pages and resources. I highly recommend its use.

USGENWEB - This is a cooperative genealogy effort that has resulted in an incredible amount of information in almost every county and every state in the U.S. You can go to the site, click on the appropriate state, click on the county, and you will be taken to a volunteer-led site giving information on that county. The individual sites range from outstanding to dismal, depending on the diligence and work of the person who is webmaster of the site, and the length of time it has been under construction.

ROOTS SURNAME LIST NAME FINDER - This is a web site that has an inclusive search capability that allows you to enter the REEVES surname (or any other surname), and get a listing of different lines of the REEVES family, with inclusive dates of each lineage specified, and the locations that the particular line followed in their migration. For example, for my line, I would specify: Reeves 1490-1997, Woodstock, England>USA>VA>NC>GA. This entry would be followed by the screen name of the submitter/researcher, with a link to their e-mail address. This site can be useful in seeing if others are tracing the same lineage that you are, and in providing a means to contact them and exchange information.

YATES PUBLISHING - This is a powerful research site. When you reach the site, you click on the highlighted "THE COMPUTERIZED ANCESTOR", and it takes you to a link where you can enter as much information you have about the REEVES (or other surname) ancestor you are looking for. Clicking on "Search" after entry of the data takes you to a list of that surname with dates, spouse, and other information. You can browse the list and easily see if your ancestor is listed, as enough information is given to do so. Over 700,000 family group sheets are included in this database, and you can order paper copies of them by mail for a reasonable fee, either individually or in batches. In many cases, the name and address of the contributing author is also given on the family group sheet you receive. This site is one of the most valuable research tools I've found on the internet thus far for finding information about my REEVES ancestors.

REEVES MANUSCRIPTS PAGE - This is an index of manuscripts written by folks with the Reeves surname. I wasn't able to mine any useful information relating to my line, but it might just be the ticket for someone else. Try it and see if it helps you.

REEVES-L MAILING LIST - This mailing list is for those who are interested in exchanging information concerning Reeves genealogy. Queries can be posted seeking information, and connections with others sharing a common interest are likely. I highly recommend it. There is no charge to subscribe or participate. REEVES FAMILY GENEALOGY FORUM - This is a powerful site linked with the Family Tree Maker site that provides a means for REEVES researchers to link up with others researching their specific family line, through postings to the site. Messages back and forth from those exploring links are also included, and much information can be gleaned from these.
