Listed next are pages about people with the Reeves surname, or sites about such people, who have distinguished themselves in some extraordinary way, or who have gained public recognition, such as those in the entertainment field: One Medal of Honor winner and one Admiral, both of whom had US Navy ships named after them, are also included, plus one of the most influential scientists of the  20th century. Click on the appropriate name to be taken to a site with more information about that person.

Dan Reeves, Football Coach - Dan was once the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons major league football team, and distinguished himself in this role. He may be best known to some through his appearance in TV commercials endorsing cholesterol-lowering medicines. Dan was born January 19, 1944 in Americus, Georgia. His personal football history may be found at the link above.

Thomas James Reeves - Thomas won the U.S. Medal of Honor for action performed during the attack on Pearl Harbor. The account of his heroism is contained in his Wikipedia page. The first ship commissioned with the surname USS Reeves(DE156), was named in Thomas' honor.

Admiral Joseph Mason Reeves - The second USS Reeves(DLG-24) was named for Admiral Joseph Mason Reeves. This site contains a biography of his military service.  A Google search on his name will yield additional information, or search for him at wikipedia.org.

Keanu Reeves Page - This page gives information on the actor Keanu Reeves, best known for his role in the movie “The Matrix.”

Christopher Reeve Home Page - This famous actor once played the role of Superman, and went on to star in other movies, such as “Somewhere In Time,”,” my favorite. The site gives this remarkable man’s biography.

Jim Reeves - Country and Pop Music singer. Wikipedia page on this smooth singer. His songs enjoyed popularity for many years after his death at age 40 in a plane crash.

George Reeves Biography - This actor is best known for his role playing Superman in a 1951 TV series. The official finding was that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but there was considedrable controversy over that finding.

Steve Reeves - Actor and bodybuilder who played Hercules in the movies. Wonder why so many men named Reeves or Reeve played strong men? Maybe if I worked out a bit more––––––––––.

Alec Reeves - A brilliant English scientist who obtained the first patent on a digital transmission technique in 1937, long before technology was available to implement it (he went on to obtain over 100 patents in his lifetime). It was not until the transistor was invented that it was possible to build devices based on his discovery. Alec akso perfected an amazing precision bomb technique in World War II that helped English bombers destroy their targets at night. The story of this extraordinary and somewhat eccentric Reeves, called “The Father of the Information Age,” is worth reading. For those wishing to read even more information, go to “Alec Reeves Lectures-2006,” held at the Imperial College of London.

Martha Reeves - This wikipedia page outlines the biography of a well-known singer with the Reeves surname.

WALTER REEVES-GEORGIA’S GARDENER - I could be stretching the definition of “Famous Reeves” by including Walter here, but he is the most famous gardening guru in Georgia, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s also my half 3rd cousin. He has written a lot of books, has a radio show, and is to gardening what Clark Howard is to personal finance. If he doesn’t know the answer to a gardening problem, there’s probably not one.
