Dear Cousin:
We are descended from the same Daniel and Anne Crow, who came from England
and settled in Clark County, Ky. after a stop in Orange County, VA.
I don't know where you got the information that Malinda Crow was the daughter
of James and Nancy Elkin Crow.
Your line descended from Daniel to Job Crow and wife Savilla Dumford.
According to a story in the Estill Tribune, dated December 22, 1982,
of which we have a copy.
Malinda was the 12th child of Job and Savilla, born on October 5, 1824.
She spent her entire life in Estill County as far as we know,
and was raised on Tipton Ridge where Job owned large tracts of land.
According to the same story, William H. Tipton was the son of Reubin
and Mary Elizabeth West Tipton.
William and Malinda likely lived on Cow Creek, and it is known that
William is buried in an unmarked grave in Cow Creek Cemetary.
They had 12 children:
Elizabeth, born 27-05-1844, married Simpson McIntosh
Ruebin S., b. 03-10-1846, married Delvina Barnes
Luvisa, b. 26-07-1848, no other information
J. W., b. 20-04-1850, m. Mary F. Stephens
Martha Frances, b. 18-01-1853, no other information
Martin M., b. 03-06-1854, married Pauline McIntosh
Thomas, b. 31-07-1856, married Elizabeth Crow
William Simpson, b. 21-06-1858, married Livie ---------
Liza B., b. 18-12-1860, no other information
Samuel, b. 31-01-1862, married Emma McIntosh
Joseph, b. 24-01-1864, no other information
Nancy, b. sometime in 1871, no other information
The dates of birth of this family were provided by Hoyt Baber
and her daughter Dawn. They found in a jar a rolled up paper that
contained the birthdates of this family.
We hope that this information will be of use to you. We seek your help in finding
more information on Daniel Crow who came from England by ship.
There are three different stories as to how he arrived.
I have left off the names of the sender untill they give permission to use their name.
