Rock Castle is a non profit Organization , that continues its goal in preserving Daniel Smith's home and history. You can make a difference!!!!
The state of Tennessee Historical Commission
had purchased the home and the property in 1969 and then encouraged a group
of local citizens to be responsible for furnishing and managing the
house.
Miss Sarah Berry, a direct descendant of General Daniel Smith and wife
Sarah, was very interested in preserving her 200-year-old ancestral home. Miss
Berry had approached a few friends and neighbors , with a proposal
to organize and then work with the THC in preserving Rock Castle.
This group gained their charter on Feb. 15, 1971 ("The Friends
of Rock Castle ,Inc.").
