Some people believe and teach
today that the coming of our lord Jesus Christ is an event which will take
place in the future. I can understand how some might believe this but the
fact is the bible does not teach his return in the future but in the
generation and lifetime of the Apostles. The biggest mistake when reading
the bible is usually the language. The bible was written for us but not to
us. The bible is a series of letters and books written to 1st century
churches and apostles. Therefore when reading the bible you must ask
yourself what does the author intend for the verses to mean rather than
asking yourself what the verses mean today in our language (because our
vocabulary today is much different). The concept of language has changed
very much from the 1st century until today and if you try and understand
the verses as they would mean if they were directed to you then you would
have a very different and fearful outcome. However like I said before, the
bible is for us but not written to us. People today also make the mistake
of comparing the scriptures of the bible to what they have believed in and
been taught all of their life, and if it is different than their beliefs
most will choose mans teachings over the bible scriptures. If the
scriptures contradicts their teachings they will say that what the
scriptures says is not what it means or they will say "I don't know what
it means but I know it does not mean that." instead of studying to show
thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth(dividing the spirit from the natural)
Now I ask you this, do you think that maybe what Jesus said is what he
mean?
I must say that what Jesus said is what he meant, for instance in Mat
24:14 " And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world
for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." Some people
today still preach that the gospel has not been preached in all the world
but you must first understand what Paul said in Col 1:23"If ye continue in
the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the
gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature
which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister". The fact is the
gospel has been carried into all the world but not in the sense that the
word "World" means to us but rather what it meant to them. In the book of
Acts chapter 2 verse 5 it state that there was gathered everyone under
heaven."And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of
every nation under heaven." Looking past the context of the vocabulary you
must understand what the meaning is not what the word means today. When
Jesus stated that "then shall the end come." he was not speaking of the
destruction of the world but the end of the world as they knew it and the
beginning of the new earth and new heaven. Jesus done away with the world
system(old covenant) and established the new world system(new covenant).
So you may ask when did the end of the world take place and then you refer
to Heb 9:26 "For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of
the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put
away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
If you read the bible and believe what it says and believe in the whole
bible then you cannot leave out any scriptures but you must believe in the
whole truth. "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you
free." Then you must understand some of the following verses-
Mat 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all
these things be fulfilled.
Mat 16:28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall
not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
Mat 23:36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this
generation.
Mark 9:1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some
of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have
seen the kingdom of God come with power.
Mark 13:30 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass,
till all these things be done.
Luke 9:27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which
shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.
Mat 10:23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another:
for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of
Israel, till the Son of man be come.
John 21:22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what
is that to thee? follow thou me.
John 21:23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that
disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die;
but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or
one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a
change also of the law.
Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the
world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Col 1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard
before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
Col 1:6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth
forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew
the grace of God in truth:
Col 1:23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not
moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was
preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a
minister; |
