After Gagarin's death my mother stayed melancholy for a long while.
They had given her a VCR and tape Gagarin had made during his flight into
space but for a long period she refused to watch it. Late one night, walking
into our living room I caught my mother looking at our father's flight.
She kept rewinding the footage taken from the vessel's window over and over
and over.
When I asked her what she was doing she replied 'looking
for your father's heart'.
