Kelli Tuckeena's White Lace
|
|
Kelli was born out of Keena's second Litter on April 8, 1997. Her formal name is Tuckeena's White Lace. Her dads name was Tuck and her mothers name was Keena hence came the name Tuckeena. White lace came from her being pure white. Kelli is one of the sweetest Bichons around. She just loves everyone. That's why I thought that she would be a good therapy dog. After all she came from a therapy dog family. Her mother Keena and her sister, Kami, from a different litter were great therapy dogs. I started taking her to nursing homes and children rehabilitating places. She liked the old and the young. Kelli would snuggle and give kisses to everyone. Then one day I got a call from an agency that just does private home calls. They asked if I would consider bringing Kelli into private homes. I agreed and off we went to visit an elderly man. His home was about 30 minutes away from my house. He was in his 90's and lived alone. That alone was amazing to me. He did his own cooking and cleaning. I rang the door bell and he yelled for us to come in. When we did he got so excited yelling "that's one of those JR dogs from the television show. I watch animal planet all the time, he says to me. Well with Kelli, it was love at first sight. She jumped up on his lap and gave him kisses, then laid right down next to him. He began petting her while he talked to me. I could see how lonely he was. I stayed for quite a while just talking to him. When it was time to go I got up and went to the door and called Kelli to come. Did she come? No, she looked at me with those sad brown eyes as to say but mom he needs me now. Well I sat back down and we talked some more. He just held Kelli on his lap petting her all the time. She brought so much joy into this mans life. We began going to see him quite often and he still looks forward to Kelli's visits. Now I have started to train Kelli for tracking. Her sister Kami was the second Bichon in the history of the breed to get a tracking title. Kelli seems to be a natural at it so far. She keeps her nose to the ground and really pulls me along. Kelli seems to enjoy tracking very much so we'll keep it up and see if she can get a tracking title in the future.
