I was extremely disappointed with and turned off by Spielberg's rendition of War of the Worlds for a variety of reasons although I was looking forward to its release. I found this movie unnecessarily and excessively gory and dark which I found immediately repulsive. Additionally, I was unimpressed by Tom Cruise's performance and character. For those who enjoy horror movies, this movie should appeal to you, but for those of us unaccustomed to horror movies this movie will be disturbing.
