Maine
native Scotty Huff began his music career at a very young age. His
talent was inevitable. His father is a retired music educator and
both his parents are professional musicians. His early years gave
Scotty his first taste of performing through school bands and choral
groups. He was awarded many prestigious awards and scholarships
throughout his school career. It was during this time that Scotty
also began to perform professionally throughout the state of Maine.
He graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelors
of Music in Music Education. His college years weren't simply filled
with study, but he expanded his professional horizons by performing
in a multitude of settings highlighting his multi-instrumental and
vocal talents. The breadth of experience he recieved at this stage
was crucial to his development not only as a performer, but a composer,
arranger, and producer. Scotty took every opportunity to play with
rock bands, jazz ensembles, funk and soul bands, syphony orchestras,
brass quintets, country bands, folk groups, dixieland bands, and
more. It was also at this time when Scotty caught the eye of bigger
names. He was often one of many top call musicians in Maine contracted
to support touring acts like Natalie Cole and the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra
(lead by Lee Castle).
After moving to Nashville in 1997, Scotty quickly established himself
as a trumpet player and immediately began working with Nashville
legends Boots Randolph and Danny Davis. It wasn't long after Scotty's
arrival in Tennessee when he was hired by The Mavericks to lead
their horn section, The Havana Horns, on a world tour that lasted
three years. When The Mav's took a break in 2001, Scotty was hired
by Keith Urban to play rhythm guitar and sing backing vocals. He
was an integral part of Keith's touring band through his first three
solo records. (Listen to Scotty's high harmonies on Keith's recording
of "Raining On Sunday" from the award winning album, Golden
Road)
After working with Keith, Scotty began to be sought after to help
jump start the careers of many up and coming as well as veteran
artists in Nashville. This trusted role found Scotty assisting artists
in their radio promotion tours as a vocalist and guitar player as
well as band leader and music director positions. Among the artists
Scotty worked with is Canadian powerhouse Amanda Wilkinson,
Capitol Recording Aritst Jamie O'Neal, hit songwriter Rachel
Proctor, and most recently the tremendously talented RCA recording
artists Jake Owen.
Scotty has now given up full time touring to focus on his production
and arranging talents and also be home to raise his two beautiful
children along side his loving wife.
