My thoughts on Mercury’s journey:

During the time that our friend is moving backward in Libra, the signs of the scales of balance, this is a fertile time for reversals of major decisions. Wherever significant negotiations happen to be underway, expect a greater likelihood for talks to break down or be postponed. It will not be easy for diverse sides to come to agreements at this time, possibly because all the facts aren’t in, or those that are present are subject to question with respect to accuracy and reliability. Needless to say, this is not a good time for opposing sides to come to any sort of workable agreement. It will be better used by feeling out the opposition, and then retreating to respective corners to consider the options that are on the table.

Once Mercury goes into Virgo, this is a time to sort through the nitty-gritty details. Since Virgo is also the sign of health, this would be a great time to hammer out the various contingencies associated with health care reform. Ideally the final version should be ready for a vote as Mercury turns forward in Virgo. Anything submitted prior to this time is not as likely to meet with approval. The sign of Virgo is also related to labor issues, so it wouldn’t be surprising if some strikes emerge in service-oriented industries.

Aries:

During the Libra portion of the cycle, pay close attention to how you communicate with those closest to you, such as your significant other. Guard against passing quick judgment on where they stand and accept the fact that they may be in a period of indecisiveness. If that is the case, don’t push them. They need this time to think things through. Its OK to negotiate agreements but hold off at least until Mercury goes forward before signing on the dotted line. Once Mercury backs into Virgo, get your desk in order and clean out filing cabinets. You’ll be amazed at what you come across. This is a great time to fine tune projects with co-workers, and perhaps train new personnel. Go over your medical calendar and make sure you’re up to date on your various checkups. This is not the time to be seeing health practitioners unless of course, there is an emergency. And appointments made during this cycle are more likely to have to be changed. So, make a list of who you need to see and start scheduling those once Mercury is direct.

Taurus:

Negotiate with your co-workers or employees during the Libra portion of this cycle. Be open to their feedback and listen carefully to their perspectives. Edit graphics and aesthetic aspects of projects. Consider medical options if appropriate, but don’t make decisions unless you have no other choice. This is a great time to ask for a second opinion, especially from experts whose specialties differ from one another. During the Virgo portion of the cycle, invest your time and energy in your relationships with children, especially if they need assistance in something very precise. Put the finishing touches on creative projects, with an eye on getting the details ironed out. Guard against getting too picky when it comes to your romantic partner.

Gemini:

Are you thinking about redecorating? Are you getting bored with the status quo and feel like mixing things up a bit? This is a great time to toss around ideas from various schools of thought. There’s no need to rush into anything just yet. Get a feel for the options available to you. Check out information on feng shui to find out what might be out of balance or what’s missing that needs to be included in the domestic landscape. As Mercury enters Virgo, it will be time for fall cleaning. Get into the nooks and crannies to see what has been lurking – you’ll be pleasantly surprised by your findings. Narrow down the options that you’ve been considering and get more specific about the direction you intend to pursue. Once Mercury moves direct you’ll be in good shape for making the specific changes necessary to get things in order.

Cancer:

This looks like a time for family members to come together, perhaps for a council of sorts. Apparently there are issues on the table which need discussing. It’s time to take a poll and see where folks stand. This might be a good time to consider shifting some responsibilities around. Once Mercury has backed into Virgo, pay attention to vehicles, computers and other electronic devices. Minor repairs may be warranted. If you have siblings, iron out any differences that are lingering. This is not a time to point fingers, but rather a time to improve logistics. Sort through personal paperwork, reading material and assorted documents. You may be holding on to things that are no longer relevant.

Leo:

Are you tiring of the same old reading material? If so, then it’s time to switch gears completely. Go off in an entirely different direction from what you’ve been immersed in lately. This is also a perfect time to pull out manuscripts from the past and start editing them. You’ll be happily astonished by the amount of data you’ve collected over the years. During the Virgo portion of the cycle, give you personal finances the once over. Sort through financial documents and get them organized. Do your homework regarding investment strategies to consider them once Mercury has moved direct. Hold on to receipts associated with even the most insignificant purchases. You never know when they might come in handy for some minor piece of information.

Virgo:

Focus your attention on your personal finances at the start of this cycle. Get a grip on the comings and goings and if you feel the need, get some insight from experts on where to go from here. Avoid extra spending like the plague, unless you have no choice. If out of the ordinary expenditures are necessitated, do your homework first and keep a copy of all related documents, from receipts to warranties. Once Mercury enters your own sign, pay attention to your personal health and appearance. Perhaps you’re due for a makeover, or maybe something as simple as a massage, to help you relax your mind as well as your body. If you feel like improving some aspect of your being, outline your game plan and then start implementing it once Mercury has gone forward.

Libra:

Since Mercury will go retrograde in your sign, you’ll need to be on your toes and watch all the logistics in your life. Expect to backtrack a time or two, and don’t be surprised if you don’t feel like you’re on sure footing. Unless you have no other choice, avoid making major decisions, as you may not have all the information on hand to make a well informed one. If you must make a move, do your homework first and get the input of others before diving in. During the Virgo portion of they cycle your best bet is to lay low, listen to your inner voices and take time out for reflection. Keep your thoughts to yourself and listen carefully to what is being said around you. Lots of good hints will come your way and you’ll be wise to factor those into future decision making.

Scorpio:

There are times when the best thing you can say is nothing. This is one of those times. During Mercury’s stay in Libra, you’re better off keeping your ideas to yourself. Mull things over and schedule some time with your inner voices to get a sense of where they’re directing you. Listen to whatever information comes your way even if you just happen to eavesdrop on a topic of interest. As Mercury changes signs, look for people from your past to start crawling out of the woodwork. If you feel the itch to contact people you haven’t heard from in a while, by all means, make the effort. There are important details you need to catch up on.

Sagittarius:

Like your neighbor the Scorpion, you too, may find folks from your past drifting back into your life. If such is the case, don’t be shocked by what you see or hear. Their lives may have taken a totally different path since the last time you touched base. Exercise caution in the way you communicate with your existing friendship base. Toss around ideas regarding future get-togethers. During the Virgo phase, be aware of how you communicate with those above you. Don’t be surprised if they are either out of pocket or not prepared to make decisions. Put the finishing touches on projects ready for viewing.

Capricorn:

Disagreements among higher-ups make it difficult for you to get a clear cut picture on where they stand. Leave them to their own devices. There’s no need to get in the middle of these squabbles. Instead, get a grip on contingency plans, keeping in mind that you’ll have numerous people to please. Take their idiosyncrasies into account. During the Virgo phase, straighten out details associated with long-distance projects. Consider future involvement in training sessions to brush up on skills not quite honed.

Aquarius:

Reconnect with people out of state or out of the country during the early portion of this cycle as well as friends from your college years. If you have a hankering to take a refresher course, go for it. You can look into tentative plans for future travel but don’t lock anything in right now. The Virgo portion of the cycle is great for analyzing your dreams, sorting through documentation associated with debts, as well as fine-tuning details associated with insurance coverage.

Pisces:

Examine ways that you can join forces with other people whose talents complement your own. Place tentative offers on the table, with the understanding that a lot of batting back and forth will need to take place. Also take note of dreams that involve decisions that other people are making. In the latter portion of the cycle, be patient with your significant other. They may be in a state of contemplation. Hold off on legal moves until Mercury moves forward. Meanwhile, get your details and strategy in order.
