A'PEXi World Sport exhaust install

Photos

In May 2002, I had A'PEXi WS exhaust professionally installed. Here is the finished result:

It has a nice shiny tip that is not too visible under that rear skirt!

Here is a comparison of the new vs. old exhaust:

Note the larger piping and mandrel bending. Also note the large size of the WS resonator; this probably accounts for the low noise while crusing.

Here is a pic. of it on the rack. (I've rotated the pic., which explains the diagonal borders.) Notice that the piping hangs lower than the stock exhaust. The muffler itself does not hang low. It would have fit perfectly on a stock car, but needed to be lowered in order to clear the rear skirt, which is much lower than the stock peice.

Sound

Here is a comparison of WS vs. Stock, as recorded in my garage by a cheap device. There was a lot of clipping of the sound (as it was too loud for the mic.), so these recordings are not so great. Still, I am making them available just to give people a rough comparison of the sound. Just keep in mind that the clipping distorts the sound, not to mention the cheap microphone, so don't base your entire purchase decision just on these sound samples!

A'PEXi WS

Stock

  Stock (dB) A'PEXi (dB)
Internal at Idle (cold) 74 74
Internal at Idle (warmer) n/a 84
External at Idle 78 84
Highway n/a 91

NOTES: The highway noise sounded more like road and wind noise than exhaust. It is not as droning as some exhausts I've heard, such as the Greddy PE.

To be added: more on-the-rack photos, and maybe even performance estimates.
