Description.
General Description: Heronry is far from road access and
scattered among a few tall sycamores in what was generally a pretty wet area. It
wasn't even on the Obion River, just tucked away in the forest. The area was a
little more open under the nest trees and there was some buttonbush and cypress
around, hence the usual wetness. It was dry as are in drought.

| Comments: June 14 - Could not see well through the trees to the nests. In addition, I was in the middle of doing a loop of point counts and could not stop for an hour and search thoroughly. It was tough to see the nests from below in a few scattered trees. I was able to estimate number of nests alright, but some didn't have adults as I was almost under their trees and some had flushed. It was also tough to see if young were in there or not. |
