Description.
    General Description:
The colony is located several hundred meters north of Jordan Springs Road and northeast of the Los Banos Drop Zone in Training area 19.

    General Habitat: Shoreline/Lake, Pond, Impoundment
    Specific Habitat: Bottomland Hardwood, Deciduous Trees, Wooded Swamp (Wetland)
    Species of nest trees: This colony is based in a wetland, which is mainly composted of mature oak trees along the edge.
    Size: 5 trees in a 13ha wetland

History.
   
The colony is in a mitigation wetland, which was originally 5ha, but expanded to 13 ha in 2001. Wetland contains different tree species, but colonies use oak snags. Colonies were present in this wetland prior to the mid-90's (before I started monitoring) and disappeared from the wetland in the late 90's or early 00's. Herons started nesting here again in 2004 when 5 nests were monitored. Nests have been increasing since that time.
