Distance: 5 miles
Directions from town to colony: From intersection of U.S. 129 and Louisville Road, go west on Louisville Road approximately five miles and turn right onto Louisville Point Park. Go to the end of the parking lot and nests are in pine trees on your left and another is to the right of the restroom in the picnic area.

Description.
    General Description:

    General Habitat: Peninsula; Shoreline/Lake, Pond, Impoundment
    Specific Habitat: Evergreen Trees in picnic area
    Species of nest trees: Pine Trees
    Size: Three to six trees within 150 feet and one tree across channel.

History.
    Louisville--Louisville Point Park, Louisville Lake (Lackey Creek), right where it flows into the Tennessee River (DeLorme: Page 43, B-7, the tiny, thin, ENE-facing peninsula that is just west of the furthest north point on SR 333, shows a boat launch on it, that peninsula is Louisville Point Park), of breeding colony of Great Blue Heron. 2006. March 18, Great Blue Heron (2 nests) one adult on each nest; and on the other side of Louisville Lake (Lackey Creek) in Knox County (4 nests), no adults seen, though not in park site considered part of the park breeding colony. In addition, 25 Great Blue Herons circling. Not aware of presence at this site previous to 2006 (Charlie Muise). December 30, opposite the Louisville marina roosting in cedars, Black-crowned Night-Heron (9 adults and 3 immatures) (Warren Bielenberg). 2007. February 26, Great Blue Heron, between the Louisville marina and Louisville Point Park (3 on nests in a tree); at the park there were Great Blue Herons in the pine trees but no nests seem though didn't get close; and Black-crowned Night-Heron, at the marina (4) (Warren Bielenberg). Comments: April 8 - Five nests observed were in two large pines at the end of the parking lot. Another nest was being built in a pine tree in the picnic area. May 8 - Four inactive nests were observed in large pine at end of parking lot. An active nest was in a pine tree to the left closer to a light pole. An active nest was in a pine tree in picnic area. This nests was being built on April 4, 2008. Two inactive nests were in a tree across the channel from the picnic area. May 22 - Six nests were observed in pines at the end of the parking lot, three had juveniles in them. An active nest was located in a pine tree in the picnic area and had vocalizing young, but an accurate count could not be made because of heavy vegetation. Two inactive nests were in a tree across the channel from the picnic area.
