History.
    This is part of three breeding sites--Moose Lodge, Black Bottom, and Sycamore Shoals State Park, for Yellow-crowned Night-Heron, along a 1 to 1.5 miles section of the Watauga River, from Sycamore Shoals State Park upstream to the Gilbert Peters bridge. All nests are in a riparian corridor along the Watauga River. Yellow-crowned Night-Herons have nested in this area since at least 1978.
