For this project i decided to create and use a lightsabre

First I shot the footage
Then I created the column in Maya and made adjustments to the lighting and shadows

Next I created a Nurbs curve and key framed the endpoints to the sword.
I then turned the curve into a particle emitter.

After rendering out the sequences, i used Shake to composite them together.
I also added film grain and blur to help the CG and video elements mesh
