Molting
About a week before your crab molts, it will become less active. That is a hard thing to tell because if there is a slight temperature change, your hermit crab is about to die, or it's about to molt it will become less active.
After your hermit crab molts, it will look like a dead hermit crab- like an immobile crab that has fallen out of its shell. The One thing about molting is, there will be a crab inside, and in fact, the crab that has "fallen out of its shell" is really the crab's exoskeleton. DO NOT BUG/TOUCH THE CRAB AFTER IT MOLTS. You will have a dead hermit crab if you do. You also should leave the exoskeleton in the cage. The molted crab or other crabs will eat it. You might want to take the big claw out after about 2 weeks if they haven't eaten it, because normally they don't.
