9th JROTC Battalion

The 9th JROTC Battalion is located at Zachary High School, ZACHARY, LOUISIANA.  ZACHARY HIGH is part of the Zachary Community School System.

The Army JROTC program was established at Zachary High School on 1 Aug. 1994. 

Major Cole Black and Master Sergeant Victor Honeysette are the  U. S. Army Instructors.

The unit was inspected by the U. S. Army Cadet Command for the first time in 1996 and was designated an "Honor Unit With Distinction" which the unit has maintained for 8 consecutive years.  This rating is only given to the Top 20% of  JROTC Programs in the nation. 

The 9th Battalion was awarded the East Baton Rouge Parish Superintendent's Award for 2002 and 2003.  This award is  given each year to the best JROTC program in East Baton Rouge Parish School System.   

In 2002 the 9th Battalion was also the East Baton Rouge Parish winner of the annual Cadet Challenge competition. 

The cadets of the JROTC Battalion have been authorized to wear a unique unit patch and unit crest which are depicted at the top of this page.
